“I’m retired now and I gotta have somethin’ to do and this is a great part-time job….I spent twenty-two years in the Marine Corps—two tours in Vietnam, and then from there I went in automotive. Spent thirty-eight years in automotive….In the Marine Corps, I always had to give pilots a briefing before we would fly back from Vietnam goin’ back. And I’d have to give them a briefing on how their radios worked and their life preservers and their chutes and everything. And I had a Second Lieutenant Mann—I was a E-7 gunnery sergeant—and I had a Second Lieutenant Mann. He was only in country about three months and he was lucky enough to go back. But after I was through with my presentation. I said ‘Oh by the way, Lieutenant Mann,’ I says ‘I’m outta radios, so I give you a whistle.’ And everybody cracked up.”
